A chat from 6 years ago has turned into reality

 

The birth of an unbelievable combination of musicians

Violinist Kyung Wha Chung and previous members of Ensemble DITTO have united to celebrate the festival’s 10th anniversary and to promise the next 10 years. Pianists that have been a part of Ensemble DITTO during the past decade will perform on stage, mentors and mentees together, for a special gala concert. It will be a spectacular stage celebrating the 10th anniversary. In the first half of the concert, pianists Dong Hyek Lim, Ji, Steven Lin, and more will start the concert with four pianos on stage.

 

In the second half, violinist Kyung Wha Chung - a mentor, the queen, a living legend - will engage in chamber music which itself makes this concert very special. When Richard Yongjae O’Neill first came to Korea with the Sejong Soloists, Kyung Wha Chung was their soloist and when she said to him “We should we play together sometime?”, his answer was “We should do it right now!”. The friendly chat has become a reality. Her juniors have learned a lot from Kyung Wha Chung who is incredibly passionate and dedicated to music. The audience will soon be able to meet this unbelievable stage live.

 

The four other artists that will be playing Schubert’s ‘Trout’ with Kyung Wha Chung are Korean young artists representing Korea that have been greatly influenced by this great senior. They are Dong Hyek Lim, Richard Yongjae O’Neill, Taeguk Mun, and Minje Sung. DITTO Festival’s motto being ‘classical music people sympathize with’, their scene of musical interaction at the festival will definitely be one to be excited about.
