[Contemporary Music for Haegeum] is a performance-based creative research project that explores how the timbre of the haegeum, a traditional Korean instrument, can be expanded within the language of contemporary music. Centered on live performance and complemented by various forms of audience engagement and interpretive guidance, the project offers listeners who may find contemporary music unfamiliar points of entry into understanding and enjoying the works. Its second installment, , explores new musical possibilities for the haegeum through works by three composers, expressing diverse qualities of light through the instrument's timbre, resonance, and sense of space.
