Sejong Soloists presents a chamber music program exploring the works of composer Donghoon Shin, whose compositions have earned international recognition. The program features the Asian premieres of two of Shin's works, performed by countertenor Iestyn Davies, violinist Chee-Yun, pianist Jun Cho, and the Sejong Soloists String Quartet.
Co-commissioned by Sejong Soloists, Wigmore Hall, and the Istanbul Music Festival, Sonnets to Orpheus (2026) was written for Iestyn Davies, who joins Sejong Soloists for the work's Asian premiere, following its world premiere earlier this year. Shin's Winter Sonata (2025), also receiving its Asian premiere, features Chee-Yun and Jun Cho.
The program also includes Janaek's Kreutzer Sonata and Beethoven's Cavatina, performed by the Sejong Soloists String Quartet, alongside vocal works by Haydn, Beethoven, and Handel performed by Davies and Cho.
Pairing Shin's contemporary compositions with chamber and vocal music from earlier eras, the program reveals connections across centuries of musical expression.
