The program brings together the music of composer Donghoon Shin with works from the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic traditions. Shin's Winter Sonata (2025) for violin and piano and Sonnets to Orpheus (2026) for countertenor and string quartet will receive their Asian premieres. Countertenor Iestyn Davies joins Sejong Soloists for Sonnets to Orpheus, alongside Baroque repertoire drawn from the tradition that shaped the countertenor voice.
The program continues with Schubert's String Quartet in C minor and Beethoven's "Cavatina," bringing contrasting musical languages into dialogue and connecting Shin's contemporary voice with the rich tradition of chamber music.
