AROUND THE WORLD IN 66 DAYS!!!
Access Entertainment is proud to welcome rock legends IRON MAIDEN on their first ever visit to Korea. The concert will take place at the Olympic Gymnasium #1 on 10 March, 2011 as part of The Final Frontier World Tour. IRON MAIDEN will be arriving in their specially customized Boeing 757 airliner Ed Force One which will be transporting band, crew and their entire 10 ton stage production 50,000 miles right around the globe and piloted by lead singer Bruce Dickinson, a qualified Airline Captain. Commencing in Moscow on Feb 11, playing 29 shows and visiting 26 cities in thirteen countries across 5 continents, Ed Force One will land for it’s last show in Tampa, Florida exactly 66 days later. The tour is in support of a new Maiden studio album, ‘The Final Frontier’ released in August on EMI Records (UME in the US) which has proved to be their most successful chart-wise in the band’s illustrious career to date, being the No.1 selling album in 28 countries.
IRON MAIDEN is an international phenomena in the rock and metal world with career sales of over 85 million albums after 30 years at the forefront of Metal and a major influence on many of the successful bands who have followed them . For The Final Frontier 2011 Tour, Korea will experience for the first time the same extraordinary level of passion, total commitment and stunning musicianship as the band has always delivered. From the air-raid siren vocals of Bruce Dickinson, to the soaring melodies of “3 Amigos” guitarists Dave Murray, Janick Gers and Adrian Smith, all forged into one dynamic powerhouse by the thunderous rhythm section of Steve Harris on bass and Nicko McBrain on drums. The Final Frontier World Tour 2011 will be an even more ambitious venture than the pioneering 2008/09 Somewhere Back In Time World Tour which encompassed 38 countries and saw the band perform to almost two million fans with Ed Force One circumnavigating the globe twice. Starting off in Russia at Moscow’s Olympic Stadium, the tour then moves into the uncharted Maiden territory of Singapore and Indonesia before arriving in Australia to headline the Soundwave Festivals, for which over 130,000 tickets have already been sold. A first ever concert in South Korea follows then two nights in Tokyo, Mexico and a run of dates throughout Latin America, then Puerto Rico and a final two shows in Florida (full dates are listed below) . During this leg of The Final Frontier Tour Maiden are expected to play to over 600,000 people, prior to undertaking a massive tour of European stadiums, arenas and festivals in the Summer. Bruce Dickinson comments “Being able to transport everything in Ed Force One for the Somewhere Back In Time Tour was like having our own magic carpet! It meant we could take the show to places we’d never been able to visit before and that was hugely exciting for all of us. So it made perfect sense to do it again for THE FINAL FRONTIER WORLD TOUR, but for 2011 we plan to push the boundaries even further. We know we have a lot of fans in Asia who’ve been waiting a very long time to see us. Logistically it just wasn’t feasible before - but now it is!”
The adventures of that unique and groundbreaking tour, both on and off stage, were captured in the award-winning DVD “Flight 666”. Released in May last year, hot on the heels of IRON MAIDEN picking up their first ever Brit award for Best British Live Act, the DVD reached the No.1 spot in the Music DVD Charts in 25 countries. Just over a year later and in true Iron Maiden style, the band once again surpassed their own chart success with the release of their fifteenth studio album THE FINAL FRONTIER in August 2010 on EMI Records. This album reached the No.1 spot in an impressive 28 countries right around the globe; from Lebanon, Arabia and India in the East, to Canada in the West, New Zealand down south, throughout Europe and right across Latin America, as well as reaching No.1 in Billboard’s European, Tastemaker and Rock Charts and No 4 in the USA, their highest position ever. Quite an achievement for a band who first stormed the charts exactly 30 years ago with their eponymous debut album and today have 85 million album sales, close to 2000 live performances and 15 studio albums of unerring quality and power to their name.
