The Norwegian pop/folk duo Kings of Convenience, after a long break of 5 years, are back with their new album Declaration of Dependence and ready to touch and re-fill the hearts of thousands with their enlightening acoustic sounds and beautifully sensitive melodies. In fact, this duo will be performing in Seoul on the 4th of April 2010 at the Olympic Hall in the Olympic Park.

The duo Erlend Øye and Eirik Glambæk Bøe met in High School when they were 16 and they had also formed a band along with some other friends back then. However, it was with their debut as Kings of Convenience, Erlend and Eirik were set on the spotlight in the pop/folk music world, being compared to legends of the same genre such as Simon & Garfunkel and Belle & Sebastian. In 2001, the duo band released their very first album, Quiet Is The New Loud, and a remix album, Versus, and in 2004 came along their second album, Riot On A Empty Street, obtaining great success and high praises from critics all over the world. Especially in Korea, songs such as “Stay Out Of Trouble” and “I’d Rather Dance With You” were used in TV commercials, which made it possible to reach out to a wider music fan base, leading the band to make their first visit to Seoul in the spring of 2008.

Now, after a 5 year break from their last album, Riot On An Empty Street, Kings of Convenience is back with their very new third album, Declaration Of Dependence, released in October 2009. Compared to their previous records, this new one is closer to an unplugged version, and remarkably rhythmical without the use of a single brush drum. Moreover, 90 percent of the album is filled uniquely with the voices of Erlend and Eirik and the sound of their acoustic guitars, emphasizing the album’s acoustic sonority, which is just a delight to the ear. In their last performance in Seoul, the Korean fans were the first ones to listen to the band’s first single, “Mrs. Cold,” which immediately became one of the most popular songs of the duo. As soon as the new album, Declaration Of Dependence, was released here in Seoul, it topped the pop charts of one of Korea’s biggest record selling companies, Hot Tracks (Kyobo), proving the Korean fans’ love for the band in a subtle yet decisive manner.

Kings of Convenience will be back in Seoul to perform on the 4th of April 2010 at the Olympic Hall in the Olympic Park, once again ready to move all their Korean fans with their clear and moving acoustic melodies.
