<Body Concerto> offers maximum visual impact thanks to the harmony between light, color, body, design and movements. Using the common stylistic approach of modernity and creation, the Choreographer Sungsoo Ahn has lent form to ‘the body, the “Chi(the sprit in Korean words)” that flows through the body, and the aura that surrounds the body’ with care. Dancers from Ahn Sung-Soo Pick-up Group, the star ballerino, Kim yong-gul who used to be the Soloist at the Paris Opera Ballet and Yoon Soo-yeon of the Rosas Dance Company are brought together on a single stage.
The wavelengths of ‘Chi’ or aura can be expanded by training of breathing which in turn converge with the hues and light of the stage to create remnant optical images in the viewers’ eyes to release the aura. The rhythm at the fingertips, the rhythm shown in the course of shifting the weight, the musical scale released by the mass of the dancers, the prolonged sound formed by the line flowing from the movement of dancers and the stress of the rhythm from breathing have been visually enhanced in the piece.
<Body Concerto> extends from individual aura to group aura in Act 1. Act 2 visually depicts the aura of relationship while Act 3 creates the repercussion of the body, space and music. |
