Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, the main casts of a modern day musical film [once], is bringing their one of a kind project to Korea, ‘The Swell Season’ Live in Seoul!

The scene where Glen Hansard (Guy) and Marketa Irglova (Girl) are playing together the song, ‘Falling Slowly’ at a piano shop, is one where it has made an everlasting imprint in the hearts of all movie lovers. The two main casts of the film [once], Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, will be joining together to revive their project, ‘The Swell Season’, to Korea for a set of two shows on January 10th & 11th, 2015.

Prior to the success of the film, [once], which starred the main casts, Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, the two had formed a band called, ‘The Swell Season’. Their song, ‘Falling Slowly’ from the film, won the 2007 Academy Award for Best Original Song and the soundtrack had recorded sales of over 700,000 in the USA (over 60,000 in South Korea). Moreover, not only have they toured sold out shows, their roles were parodied on The Simpsons, which only broadened their recognition and they were widely known from all corners of the world. Soon thereafter, members from Glen Hansard’s band, ‘The Frames’, had joined in on the world tour of The Swell Season, and have ever since become a complete package as a band. In 2009, they had released an album, ‘Strict Joy’, which had received ratings of 4.5 out of 5 and was praised as ‘2009 Best 100 Album’ by Amazon.com.

After disbanding and waiting for long 3 years, The Swell Season reunites only for Korea.

The two members of The Swell Season had seen a story unfold as if it were written right from the movies; After the release of the film [once], Glen Hansard and Market Irglova had seen their love life intertwine despite their age difference of 18, and had shown to the world what musical talents they were able to produce together through their tours. However, after the release of their 2nd studio album, ‘Strict Joy’, the two had seen an inevitable breakup, ultimately leading to the disbanding of The Swell Season, leaving many of the fans in a state of brokenness.
Now having their own lives, visions, and solo projects to pursue, the two found it hard to make a comeback of The Swell Season possible. However, through their memories of Korea and how pleasant it was for them in the past, they had found a way to make an exclusive solution to make a mere two shows possible, only in Seoul, South Korea. How special must this be to able to see them just once more?

Though the two do not share a common love life anymore, through their maturity and experience, they return once more with a much more beautiful story to share with us all. As if it were a documentary of the personal lives of two individuals, this would be like the continued story of the film [once] returning on set as [once Again].

Their music has never once died out.

Written and directed by John Carney, [Begin Again] is a film inspired by the film [once]. Starring casts such as Keira Knightley, Mark Ruffalo, and Maroon5’s vocalist, Adam Levine, the film had gained much attention, and not only so, had included Glen Hansard as the composer of the film’s OST. The success of the film [Begin Again] had sparked the memories of the film [once] again, resembling the characters in [Begin Again] as the Guy and Girl from the film [once].
The film [once] had also played a major role in the world of musicals, as under the direction of John Tiffany, Glen Hansard (Guy) and Marketa Irglova (Girl) had played their respective roles again, and the memories of The Swell Season had long since lived on.
