<The Lady of the Camellias> is based on a French writer Alexandre Dumas’ novel which was adapted for Verdi’s opera 'La Traviata'. It is a true love story between a popular lady, Marguerite who receives lots of flowers from her admirers all the time, and a young provincial bourgeois, Armand Duval. It is one of the greatest repertories of the Stuttgart’s drama ballet.

<The Lady of the Camellias> is a famous colorful full-length story repertoire of Sue-jin Kang, Stuttgart’s prima ballerina, as well as <Eugene Onegin>, <Romeo and Juliet>. She takes the role of Marguerite Gautier, deeply immersed in the character with delicate expression and precise technique, which dominates the stage with great charisma. <The lady of the Camellias> is a special work for her as she received the ‘Prix Benois de la Danse’ which is equivalent to winning an Oscar prize, for the first time as an Asian ballerina.

Chopin’s mournful, heart-wrenching and romantic melodies!

<The Lady of the Camellias> is set in Paris in the mid 1840s, and this acclaimed ballet features music by Frederic Chopin. The drama of Chopin's melodies which comes alive with delicate and rich sounds is added to the work. Chopin’s piano sonata no.3, piano concerto no.1 & 2, ballad no.1, Andante spianato and Grande Polonaise Brillante etc., are vital parts of this performance. One happy moment in the countryside begins with piano music played onstage in the first scene of Act II. This time a German pianist and a conductor plays with the Korean Symphony Orchestra.
