The neighborhood surrounding Chungju City Hall, with its apartment complexes and single-family homes, as well as the area around Hotel Film 37.2, is so quiet it feels secluded. It is convenient for travelers using public transportation, as it is close to Chungju Station and the Chungju Bus Terminal. It is also not far from Chungju’s major tourist attractions, such as Tangeumdae Park and Lava Land. It’s the ideal location for travelers who want a quiet place to rest while still having convenient access to transportation. The exterior of the 8-story building gives off a neat impression, though it is rather ordinary. The real surprise, however, lies in the guest rooms. From the 3rd to the 8th floor, each room’s interior design highlights the distinctive features of Europe, Japan, and Korea. The hotel also features a traditional Korean earthen-walled room and family rooms. The Japanese-style rooms are instantly recognizable by the “chōjing”—a traditional Japanese lantern—hanging above the door. Upon entering, Japanese-style decorative items displayed in glass-fronted showcases catch the eye. These include traditional Japanese dolls dressed in kimonos and “Manekineko” cats with their left paws raised. The floor housing the Korean-themed rooms exudes a distinctly Korean atmosphere right from the hallway.
The traditional windows covered with hanji paper and the decorative items—such as onggi pottery and meju blocks—create a warm, nostalgic atmosphere. The guest room entrance door is also designed to evoke the feel of a traditional hanok gate. The children’s dolls made of mulberry paper and the small earthenware pots displayed in the entryway cabinet are a delight to the eye. The windows, light fixtures, and bamboo decorations featuring traditional Korean patterns even make you feel as if you’ve stepped into a hanok.
