I think this is not a place where tourists would visit. I did a search for good tteokbokki and found this place. It could be quite challenging to visit this place if you don't understand Korean because menu is not in English and the ajummas don't speak English. I managed to visit this place for dinner and it was crowded, had to wait for a while before I was offered a table. Was standing outside and enjoying watching the ajummas preparing the food. Seriously just by looking already salivating at the bright red sauce. I decided to get the tteokbokki and initially I saw Oden in the menu and it looked interesting to me. I thought it would be nice seeing others had the Oden eaten together with the tteokbokki sauce, but apparently it's a separate dish which came with the soup. So was quite surprised when the tteokbokki came. It came with scissors so I was supposed to cut into the length I wanted to eat. Their tteokbokki looked pretty normal to me and didn't understand the reason behind the scissors but I still used it to cut them into smaller pieces. I enjoyed the red sauce a lot, which could be a little spicy, but the highlight were the additional pieces of items that came with it. One tasted like Oden, one was crispy and one tasted like gimbap. It was very interesting and good. There was supposed to be 3 pieces of Oden in the soup but was surprised I got 5 pieces. It tasted like fishcake but the texture was soft and the soup was good. I ordered gimbap but it was forgotten. I was already quite full with the tteokbokki and Oden so I requested for it again as a takeaway. The gimbap was really good, so simple but the flavours and taste were so good it was just like one of the best gimbap I have eaten. The overall meal was so cheap and I really enjoyed it a lot. It looks very old school and traditional and I believe the ajummas really use their heart to cook the food. Highly recommended.

Very local/ authentic place for kimbab and tteokbokki. A little intimidating if you don’t know Korean but just follow what the locals do. If there are seats inside, go sit down and wait. If no seats then wait in line. It’s a two person shop and they are busy, be patient and wait until they ask you for your order. There’s only kimbab and tteokbokki on the menu, show them a picture from google like I did and you’ll be fine. There’s self-serve water. I think most locals pay via an app but they accept cash. Overall the kimbab was very flavorful and helped to reduce the spiciness of the tteokbokki. They also give you a soup. The rice cakes were delicious - chewy, spicy, sweet… it was very spicy but I kept wanting to eat more! So good! Highly recommend to check out for an authentic experience. Total was only 7000 won (about $5) for everything pictured.

Top 5 떡볶이 in Seoul, they were in TV show as best 떡뽁이 in Seoul. Aware of long wait but worth the wait. Very cheap but still good food.
