Located at the top of Hallasan National Park at an altitude of about 1,950 meters above sea level, this lake was formed by volcanic activity. It is said that the gods drank liquor made from white deer here in the past, hence the name 'Baengnok', and the area around the lake is a mysterious landscape of rocky cliffs and mist. The snow-covered scenery, especially in the winter, is well-known for its beauty and is visited by many tourists, in recognition of its natural scenic value, it was designated as the 90th scenic spot in 2012.
