It is a World Heritage site with a long history of the Joseon Dynasty. It is a shrine where the ancestral tablets of kings and queens throughout history have been enshrined and held in great rituals. Centering on National Treasure No. 227 "Jeongjeon Hall" and Treasure No. 812 "Yeongnyeongjeon Hall", the buildings are combined with beautiful nature to create unique grandeur, and visitors can enjoy the old Joseon culture while touring the buildings built to prepare for ancestral rites throughout the temple. If your travel plans fall between May and November, it is highly recommended that you witness the spectacular ceremonial ritual known as Jongmyodaeje (royal ancestral rites).
